This is a beautiful setting along the diamond coast of Namaqualand. The trail situated in the Namaqua National Reserve offers you a variety of wild life, bird and whale watching and a spectacular view of the flowers during the season
The trail runs along the edge of the cold Atlantic Ocean and meanders through the dunes past “Policemen’s Helmet. The misty air from the Ocean added to the forbidden and dry Namib Desert has created a biological miracle – the Nama Succulent Biosphere. After spending some time at the seal colony and depending on the season, we spend a leisurely day walking along this unspoiled and undeveloped coast with some of the most beautiful kaleidoscope of flowers in season.
Among all the different bird species we find the Ludwig’s Bustard, Steppe Buzzard  and the African black oystercatcher which is in danger of extinction. It is rarer than the Southern right whale and there are no more than 5 000 birds in the world. The humpback wale is also to be seen on this spectacular trail, during the mating and calving season. The coastal sections of the Namaqua National Park have beautiful flowers displaying a variety of colour and transforming nothing into something that will amaze you.
Discover where the small local village Hondeklipbaai got its name from and relive the history that took place from as early as the 1900’s.
The tour also leads to a spectacular wine taste. Lutzville Vineyards straddles the banks of the mighty Olifants (Elephant) River as it flows to the diamond-rich West Coast of South Africa.

Here, cooling breezes of the Atlantic Ocean, large differences between day And night time temperatures and ideal soils happily conspire to create the perfect micro-climates for growing a range of cultivars to perfection – the secret behind the rich character and superior aromas that you’ll taste in every bottle of Lutzville and Cape Diamond Wine.
